First off, it’s important to understand how Cloud’s special ability, Limit Break, works. By using up his special meter, Cloud can unleash a powerful attack that deals extra damage and knockback. However, it’s not just a one-time use: the meter will refill over time. Although, it is highly advisable to actively charge this in any downtime during the fight, as Cloud’s Limit Break can be a great way to turn the tide of a fight.

One of Cloud’s standout moves is his Climb Hazard attack, triggered by up special. This move is a strong upward strike that can come back down for some extra damage and launch distance. This move is particularly useful, as it can be used on frame one out of shield, meaning that when your shield is hit, you can guarantee yourself a successful Climb Hazard! This move is also Cloud’s recovery, and therefore can also be used to save yourself from being off-staged.

Cloud’s forward air is a strong combo tool at low percentages and is key to his edge-guarding game. At early percentiles, Cloud’s forward air can combo into his Cross-Slash, which leads to upwards of 40 damage, making for an explosive start to any match. During the middle of the movement, if you can catch someone above the ledge, you may be able to take an early stock from the bottom blast zone.

Finally, the last move of note is Cloud’s back air. It has an incredibly quick animation and short stun lag, allowing this move to be performed with little drawback. If that wasn’t powerful enough, it is also capable of taking stocks at low percent due to its high launch power. Similarly to the previously mentioned forward air, it can also combo into his Cross-Slash at low percentiles. This is arguably Cloud’s most important move so don’t sleep on its potential!

Overall, Cloud is a formidable character with a lot of potential in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate! By making use of his Limit Break ability and powerful moves like Cross-Slash, Climb Hazard, and other moves in his kit, you’ll be well on your way to becoming a top-tier Cloud player!
