Luckily for all us viewers watching in-house. Death Stranding

Visionary video-game maker Hideo Kojima took to the stage to unveil more of his upcoming triple-A, art-house project Death Stranding, and it didn’t disappoint. Despite a surprisingly candid expose, large swaths of the game remain a mystery, even now. That said, fans on the day still got fed a generously meaty morsel to chew.

During the initial teaser, we caught sight of two new characters; Bridge Baby, and Mama, the latter of which seizes ghostly infants out of mid-air. Oh, and in case you were interested, we discovered that the player could make lead protagonist and Hollywood star, Norman Reedus pee? In the game, of course. Not on stage, that would be weird. Only Hideo, hey? After that bizarre news, a deep 6-minute gameplay clip sealed the deal.

The fifth installment to the ever-popular Gears of War franchise, exclusive to Xbox, is right around the corner. Even so, that didn’t stop Microsoft from serving up a snippet from its upcoming game. In truth, we already know a great deal about the single-player mode.

That’s why Microsoft chose to spend most of its time on-air, focusing mainly on an all-new, hotly anticipated “horde” event. A team-based, four-player survival mode, pitting the player against droves of harsh enemies. What’s not to love?

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep

Sorry to disappoint, but no, there wasn’t an announcement of a Destiny 3 at Gamescom 2019. A boy can dream, ey? However, we did catch wind of Destiny 2’s latest expansion waiting in the wings. Releasing October 1st, players got served up an in-depth look at what’s in store.

More importantly, though, Destiny fans can look ahead with glee, following the announcement of a free-to-play version. More on that as and when more news surfaces.

Cyberpunk 2077

Surprisingly, Cyberpunk 2077 took a backseat during Gamescom 2019. Though that may be true, the arrival of one of the industry’s most anticipated titles in existence on Google Stadia will come as welcome news to many. Additionally, as if that wasn’t enough, Google Stadia’s motorcycle footage and first-person hacking watered many a mouth, despite the minimalistic trailer. For CD Projekt Red, “short and sweet” was the name of the game. Or so it would seem.
