As in the previous seasons of Apex Legends, Caustic’s abilities revolve around his Nox Gas. You might ask yourself, “Does Caustic’s gas hurt teammates?” You can rest easy knowing you don’t actually damage your teammates, but it still affects them by slowing and blinding them.

While Apex Legends is a team-based game, Caustic is best suited with players who know how to fight next to a Caustic main or just going off on your own to take on multiple enemies by yourself.

You can really wreak some havoc with Caustic’s abilities like Nox Gas Traps and Nox Vision. This is great for those who have been on the fence deciding their mains between Caustic vs Mirage. In the Caustic vs Mirage debate, it seems in this season, Caustic’s buffs have made him the more reliable Legend.

Caustic has definitely had a buff season in the earlier seasons. Before, despite his size, he had a larger hitbox. There was also a delay between his Box Gas Traps and its ability to damage enemies. Fortunately, later patches have buffed his survivability a bit and fixed these issues. While Caustic’s Nox Gas still affects teammates, it isn’t as bad as it is for enemies.

There are a couple of tips when using Caustic’s Nox Vision. You would only be able to use it when enemies are affected by Caustic’s gas, so that would require you to be a little closer for comfort. However, the highlight is there whether you’re aiming or not, so you can hip fire if needed.

Keep in mind when you’re using a Nox Gas Trap, that you can use it to revive a teammate or heal up if you’re in a sticky situation. If you’re looking for good tips when using it, it’s best to use it for Supply Ship drops or right at the beginning. These traps can also keep an opponent at the door by blocking their way in.

However, one of the major downsides of Caustic is how weak his ultimate is. It has a longer cooldown, but it does have its uses. It’s not really used offensively, it’s mostly used as a deterrent, so really, it’s no better than a couple of Nox Gas Traps.

If you’re playing Caustic, then try to stay out of the open as much as you can. Get close to your opponents and confuse them with your gas. Try not to obscure your teammates, especially when you’re fighting in confined spaces. You’re mostly useful for deterring enemies while you and your teammates are picking them off during their confusion. If your goal is to go mostly solo while having decent crowd control, then Caustic is the Legend to play.
