Destiny 2 has a vast array of classes and sub-classes to choose from. At first, it can be daunting, but we’ll give you some advice on the best classes for PvP combat.
First of all, let’s get something out of the way: you can PvP with pretty much any class. Every character is designed to suit a variety of playstyles, so you should do fine regardless. But nevertheless, certain characters do have perks that might fit you better than another would.
So, there are three main classes: warlocks, hunters, and titans.
Hunters are for the sneaky type, for someone who likes to lie low and get off some quick sniper shots. The hunter is extremely agile, and capable of getting from one place to another quickly.
Warlocks can’t take very much damage, but can deal quite a bit of it. Their spells and magic are capable of a tremendous output of energy. If you like flanking and wiping out an entire team from behind, the warlock could be for you. Just don’t get shot.
Titans are for people who like to be the anchor of the team. They’re the backbone that holds together the entire team. As the name suggests, they’re capable of sustaining massive amounts of damage. They might be slow, but they can do some serious damage up close.
Then, they’re divided into subclasses, where each have their own minor strengths and weaknesses. Here, we’ll give you the best subclass from each main class.
The gunslinger hunter is good for so many reasons. Mostly that it’s just so versatile. Great movement, good attacks and abilities, and two super powerful supers. While the Blade Barrage is arguably more powerful, the Golden Gun is a classic, and is still really deadly in the right hands.
This Voidwalker Warlock class destroys! It’s probably the most powerful in the entire game. Even with the nerf of its super, Nova Warp, it’s still a really great all-around choice. The Axion Bolt is a fantastic option for PvP. Tied in with the other advantages of a warlock, and you have yourself a really good subclass.
The Striker Titan is a really great option if you want to deal high amounts of damage. Not only does the Titan have lots of good grenades and attacks, it also has an incredibly lethal super. The Fist of Havoc is a force not to be reckoned with. You can do massive area damage, which is great for wiping out a group.
It’s important to note that everyone’s preference is different. Certain subclasses that most people dislike might work great for you, so let this guide your decisions, but keep an open mind on them all. If you’re just starting out, I highly recommend using one of the three subclasses listed above for a good start.
