IT Chapter Two

Suffice to say, fans undoubtedly got their pennies’ worth this year, as big-time studios Warner Bros delivered twice over during Comic-Con 2019. As a result, fans were fortunate enough to view three new scenes from the upcoming horrorfest, and much sort-after sequel in the IT reboot series.

But this time, the wee nippers are all grown up. That’s right; I know what you’re thinking folks. Adults, can’t possibly be running around the place, still scared of a silly old clown to their wit’s end, can they? Well, guess again, because this clown is the freakiest oddball of them all. Worse still, he’s the physical embodiment of the most diabolically dreaded nightmares you could ever dream up. And believe me when I say this, that’s an understatement.

More importantly, though, the much-anticipated sequel boasts of a strong cast, including Jessica Chastain and of course, Bill Skarsgard as the ever so evil, Pennywise the clown. Now, 27 years have passed since the events of the first film, so, it will be interesting to see the direction in which Warner takes Stephen King’s notorious brainchild.

I, for one, can’t wait. Just a quick warning, brace yourself for the mirror room scene in the trailer, just a heads up. You’ll never entirely recover after witnessing IT. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

In truth, very few franchises can rival Star Wars when it comes to mass-appeal and outright popularity. Though that may be true, Star Trek can also speak of an unwavering global fanbase. In what has become loyal fandom that has seen the series transition, for better or worse, during its lengthy stint at the helm of pop-culture pre-eminence.

But now, in a radical attempt to revitalize the franchise, fans at Comic-Con 2019 were treated to a surprise revelation, the welcome return of Captain Picard, also known as Patrick Stewart, in the upcoming film. What we do see is some shock cameos from past cast members, alongside some high-octane action scenes. And of course, captain fantastic, the one and only Picard.

Terminator: Dark Fate

And now, we have some excellent news for all you die-hard Terminator fans out there. Oh, and let’s not forget those part-time Arnie impersonators too. Besides, the next chapter in the acclaimed Terminator franchise will feature not one, not two, but three returning actors from the original films. And so, fate would have it, that Mr. Muscleman himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is back as a new breed of T-800.

All the while, Linda Hamilton reprises her role as the iconic Sarah Conner. On top of that, as perhaps the biggest surprise of all, Edward Furling returns as John Conner. For how long? Well, we don’t know. All that aside, we can expect the stereotypical high-speed chase scenes, brutal fight scenarios, and Arnie beating the holy hell out of people. With that in mind, what’s not to love.

Jay & Silent Bob Reboot

And to caps things off, or rather, to finish with a flourish, we see the long-awaited return of comedic duo Jay & Silent Bob, in what will undoubtedly be a belly-bruising barrel of laughs. Overall, the sequel to Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back looks highly promising. Furthermore, I can’t wait to see these, joined-at-the-hip layabouts’ team-up once again on screen for one more round of none-stop debauchery.

That concludes our round-up of the latest and greatest films to grace Hollywood and beyond. As you can see, fandom has a lot to get excited about in the months and years that follow.
