Hopefully, they’ll learn from the fandom fallout concerning Game of Thrones, which, shall we say, was not to everyone’s taste, to coin it rather delicately. But let’s move on.

Aside from a slew of announcements from Marvel Studios at the infamous Hall H, most of the trailers to air were tailored to television. On that note, there’ll be several series that fail to make the highlight reel today. Comic-Con 2019: The Expanse

The Expanse has risen the ranks in recent years, relatively under the radar, from its humble origins as a low-budget series on the Syfy channel to where it is today. A sci-fi spectacular, and an Amazon exclusive. The trailer gives us insight into a new threat looming large over humanity, as they venture towards a deep space planet. Fans of the show can expect the comeback to mark its return on December 13th.

Cant wait until then? Well, I suggest you go and check out the extended clip released by Amazon. If that doesn’t get the juices flowing, I don’t know what will.

Snowpiercer

At Comic-Con 2019, showrunners TBS gave us a tantalizing glimpse of Snowpiercer, which takes place a few years on from the events that unfolded in the highly praised film of the same name, released in 2014.

Snowpiercer takes place onboard a train where the last fragments of humanity reside, following an environmental calamity, where the carriages are divided by class, and society is severely fractured. The television show will air sometime in the Spring of 2020.

Comic-Con 2019: Westworld

Releasing in 2020, Westworld Season 3 is ditching its western roots in favor of a World War 2-themed attraction. In the trailer, we witness how robotic humans are taking to a life of actual reality.

As a huge fan of Westworld, well Season 1 anyway, I’m excited to see the direction in which the series is headed in, despite these rather radical changes. Hopefully, this bold new trajectory pays-off for HBO. Fingers firmly crossed!

The Witcher

In truth, the Witcher’s kept fans waiting for some time. And yet, it has been a while since anything substantial has come to light. But thankfully, fans have been given a somewhat meaty morsel to digest. Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date confirmed just yet. Although, the production looks great, with Henry Cavill putting in what appears at face value, to be a powerful performance as chief protagonist Geralt.

My only question is, with the series entirely focusing on lore from the original books, are the showrunners alienating gamers? You know, the ones that consider the Witcher 3 to be one of, if not the, best RPGs of current times?

Only time will tell, of course, but overall, I’m excited about this one.

Watchmen

The Watchmen is an upcoming HBO television series and a graphic novel adaptation from the works of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. At first glance, the trailer appears to reflect the mood of related source material well, featuring an all-star cast which includes Jeromy Irons, Regina King, and Tom Mison, to name a few.

But the question remains: will this film be a semi-sequel to the original Watchmen comic book, and will it relate in any way to the previous movie? Probably not, and my money’s on the prior. But instead, more of a loose sequel to the source, set in modern times.

Honorable mentions at Comic-Con 2019 include; Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Impulse, His Dark Materials, Carnival Row, the Flash, Harlequinn, and Short Trek: a six-episode mini-series.
